Lawrence “Larry” Donk

Larry conceived Armor Security and Protection Inc. after recognizing a need for the next generation of security services and is responsible for the vision and direction of the company. He believes that today’s safety and security professionals should have real world experience and training in emergency preparedness and critical incident management, and has assembled a leadership team that embodies these virtues.

Larry has over twenty-two years of law enforcement experience, ascending from patrol officer to Sergeant and Road Patrol Supervisor. During his career, he has been recognized for his leadership in critical incidents and his utilization of current police strategies and tactics in emergency situations. Larry has over twenty-five years of security experience both as a security officer and supervisor, with venues including corporate security, close protection, asset protection, school security and major event security.

Larry was certified as a Police Officer in 1991. Larry’s most treasured experience during his career was his eight years as a Canine Handler with his partner GSD Armor. The time spent in canine provided invaluable training in tactics and strategy beyond that of normal police operations. Larry reached the rank of Sergeant in 2004 and commanded the Community Services Unit for two years. His time in CSU provided great insight and experience working with community and educational leaders. During this time, Larry became certified as a NYS D.A.R.E. instructor and taught the program in ten different schools, allowing him to gain a unique perspective on specific issues facing our diverse educational facilities. In 2006, Larry was promoted to Road Patrol Sergeant and worked in that role until his retirement in 2013. During that time, he received continuous training in emergency preparedness and critical incident management, and remains currently certified thru the Department of Homeland Security National Incident Management System ICS 100-ICS 700. Larry also holds certification from the Department of Homeland Security for Managing Civil Actions in Threat Incidents. Larry is a certified police instructor, firearms instructor, Haz-mat response instructor and edged weapons defense instructor. Larry has also received extensive training in police and patrol supervision and progressive leadership and police management, skills that he uses in his leadership role as CEO and President of Armor Security and Protection.
